  • 1.  Basic Inventory / Inventory Plugin

    Hi,

    Can someone tell me what table holds the basic inventory sent by the client? Also, is there a article describing what is captured as part of the basic inventory? Does a hardware inventory policy capture the same information? Are the two kept in the same table or different ones? I assume data captured as part of an inventory policy is kept in the HWComputerSystem table. Finally I am trying to determine if basic inventory captures information such as manufacturer and model. If that information is not captured by basic inventory any ideas as to why these fields would be blank, i.e. missing information such as manufacturer and model?

    Look in Resource Manager for a PC > View > Inventory > Basic Inventory. Select a Data Class then click on the Status tab and it will give you the table name. All the Basic Inventory ones are Inv_AeX_AC...

    Inventory from Inventory Solution is separate, you could in theory have an Altiris system with no Inventory Solution, say just Patch Management or Software Management, in that case you'd have Basic Inventory but none of the other Inventory tables.

    How is the Last Basic Inventory property on the Resource Manager Home populated?  When I look at the ResourceUpdateSummary table for a particular client I can different dates for various basic inventory data classes.

    Depends on the data class. Some can be populated by AD import, AeX_AC_Location, for example. AD Import may touch AeX_AC_Identification too.
