• 1. BDC Packages after upgrade to 7.5

    We have just upgraded to CMS 7.5 and I am working though issues.

    The 4 BDC driver packages are failing to download.

    In Properties of the packages, version is 7.1.0.

    I wonder if these are leftovers, not properly removed from the upgrade?

    So what would be a safe way to resolve this?

    These packages are usually only downloaded if the site server that is running the package service is also running the DS Task handler, and if that isnt the case, then they are never downloaded and will always have that status.

    As 7.5 no longer requires both services to be on the site server, you may need to have its new Deployment Package Server Components installed instead.

    Thanks SK...

    Deployment Package Server Components is there.

    So is it safe to just delete them?

    Without having a clean 7.5 environment to compare against, I cannot say.

    Also, deleting then just from the PS wouldnt help, as they will most likely get recerated unless they no longer exist in the database.

    You could search the SWDPackage table for their guids to see if they are there or not.

    They are there - I can see them in the console.

    I might ring support for this...

    I just deleted the four packages after calling support.

    They were flooding the SMA logs with events for missing files, etc...

    So after deleting them from the console, all is well now, yes? Did support say if they were 7.1 remnants that should have been removed by the upgrade or not?

    I can't say it is all well as we are having issues - tasks sitting as queued and timing out, many errors in Altiris logs, SMA logs...

    Anyway I believe the packages should have been removed by the upgrade.

    The path was the old 7.1 - \\nsServer\Deployment\etc...

    Also drivers seemed WinPE2

    Log entries look like the one below and it was flooding the logs:

    <event date='01/24/2014 17:08:43.3120000 +13:00' severity='2' hostName='sServerName' source='CreateDirectoryPath' module='AeXPackageDelivery.dll' process='AeXNSAgent.exe' pid='580' thread='2640' tickCount='20982196' >

      <![CDATA[Cannot create directory '\\sServerName\Deployment\Task Handler\bootwiz\Platforms\Winpe2\x64\Drivers\std\Drivers\ixe60x64', error: The network name cannot be found (0x00000043)]]>

    </event>
