BE 12.5 w/ Exchange Agent only showing one domain in restore catalogs
Updated: 22 May 2010 | 4 comments
Hello,
Last week I installed 12.5 on our Exchange 2003 server (hosted on SBS 2003). Backups run great. Total KB indicates we're backing up everything. We have two domains, one being a parent and the other a child. However, when I go to restore something, I am only seeing mailboxes from the parent domain. (Yes, the exchange server is in the parent domain).
Any ideas?

Ryan, Do you have another
Ryan,
Do you have another exchange server where mailboxes of other domain are stored? If this is the only exchange server, following document may help:

This is an acknowledged issue with Backup Exec software, which I do not have information on having fixed. For now, you would continue to use the workaround mentioned. Backup Exec 12.6 is the best bet for this fix to happen. You may like to check that once it is released.

Hello Ryan, Can you please
Hello Ryan,
Can you please tell me is that backup stored on tape device or on some kind of disk storage?

The backup job goes directly
The backup job goes directly to tape. It looks like I need to now run a job to copy it to a B2D. That's not acceptable for hard disk reasons. Looks like I'll have to figure out some sort of mapping to another server.
Thanks for the replies. I hope Symantec corrects this or I won't be getting any more licenses in the future.

Ryan, the only way to solve
Ryan,
the only way to solve this is workaround solution that include disk space. But you don't have to setup copy to disk for every day. You can use external USB disk ( which is very cheap :) ) to copy only that mailbox store which contains data needed for restore, this will take much less time in compare if you're goning to copy entire tape on enitre full backup.

Marinko
