BE 2010 failing during restore of single calendar in Exchange 2003 Public folders
Updated: 10 Aug 2010 | 1 comment
We are running a trial installation of BE 2010 on a Win 2K3 SP2 server with an attached SCSI disk array. This is backing up an Exchange 2003 server ( Win 2K3 Ent edn. SP2) using AOFO and GRT.
Due to Public Folder replication problems we need to restore some of the calendars.
The restore job fails part way through with the following errors:
Job ended: Tuesday, February 09, 2010 at 12:24:58 PM Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe00002fd - Cannot restore properties for one or more messages or folders. Review the credentials for the resources in the job, and then run the job again. Final error category: Resource Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-765
Restore- \\My-server\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group V-79-57344-765 - Cannot set one or more properties for School Calendars. V-79-57344-765 - Cannot set one or more properties for School Calendars.
Resource name : \\My-Server\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group
Logon account : System Logon Account
Encryption used : None
Error : e00002fd - Cannot restore properties for one or more messages or folders.
Review the credentials for the resources in the job, and then run the job again.
Agent used : Yes
Advanced Open File Option used : No
The error link goes to document id:267764
http://support.veritas.com/docs/267764
which has error: V-79-57344-33928 - Access is denied
I have checked that my default system account has owner permissions for both exchange system and client all the way down the public folder tree
to the calendar in question which we are using for testing.
I cannot find any reference to the error 0xe00002fd, plenty for 3fe talking about mapi credentials.
Has anyone else seen this and discovered a workaround. Apparently we need BE 2010 to backup Exchange 2010 properly and our powers that be
want to move to 2010 'as soos as' due to the added functionality and client OS compatability.

Dont forget and this doesnt
Dont forget and this doesnt help your current situation... To backup Exch2010, you will need not only BE2010, but also a Win2k8 64bit server.
There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."
