BE 2010 R3 - EXCHANGE - GRT - DEDUPLICATION

Hi,

  we read about the new feature of be 2010 r3 to dedup the exchange job with grt. We have update media server and agent to last version and patch but now we have this problem: if I backup exchange without GRT i can see in the result that deduplication function correctly but if I enable GRT i can't see dedup rate in backup results.

As far as my experience , low job rate is the limitation of dedup.GRT breaks everything down into small pieces the size of the deduplication fingerprint for the granular restore. This in turn will make the backup noticably slower. I do not know that it should be about 50% slower but it wouold be slower. GRT also would make it to where there is a lower dedupe or compression ratio as well.

Have you gone ahead and patched your media server with all available patches? I think there are 5 or 6 of them currently.

Do you mean that in the Backup Job log you are not able to see a line that looks something like this right at the end of the Backup Set Summary

Deduplication Stats: DDO Status for (MEDIASERVER): scanned: 1289 KB, stream rate: 78.67 MB/sec, CR sent: 22 KB, dedup: 98.3, cache hits: 17 (73.9%)

 

If this is the case then Please go to Control Panel >> REgional and Language settings and check the Default System locale.... What is the default locale set to ??
