BE 2010 R3 Pager Compatibility

Created: 20 Sep 2011 • Updated: 30 Oct 2013 | 3 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

Does anyone have any information about what pager modems are supported in BE 2010 R3? We have a Multitech MultiModem GPRS USB modem (http://www.multitech.com/en_US/PRODUCTS/Families/MultiModemGPRS/) assigned as COM3 (Also tried COM5) which windows sees and reports as working but in the pager settings the drop down box is blank.

I've looked through the administrators guide but all it says is that the box is populated with devices Windows sees and windows does see my device.

Server is a Dell PE1950, 4GB RAM Windows 2008 R2 64bit.

Thanks

Hi Pete,

There is no mention of pagers in the BE 2010 R3 HCL. The TN below states what you just said...what Windows sees, BE will see.

Patch BE with available updates and then see if this sorts it out. You can also see if removing the modem completely from Windows and then reinstalling it works...

THanks!

Hi Craig,

I read through the HCL and didn't see anything, BE is fully patched but will try removing the modem and all drivers and starting again. Was just curious to see if any one else had this modem working or indeed any modem.

Cheers

Pete

I think you should not be spending too much time/effort to get the pager working.  Pager notification may not be part of the next release of BE.  See the Retiring Soon section of the SCL below.
