You cannot do that because BE 2012 is quite different from BE 2010. You can try using BEMIG to upgrade your BEDB.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH50537

If the upgrade using BEMIG fails, then you would have to install BE 2010 R3, put in your Data and Catalogs directories, get a working BE and then upgrade to BE 2012.  You can download BE 2010 R3 from

...download and install BE 2010 R3 off the link below:

http://trialware.norton.com/files/fc/Backup_Exec_2010_13.0.5204_MultiPlatforms_Multilingual_DVD.iso

Once installed and patched, you can then stop the BE services, rename/delete the Catalogs/Data folder that were created and then copy your backed up folders. If you have the same name for the server, you should be able to start the services up without any issues.

Thanks!

Server name is the same. I have now installed BE 2010 R3 and tried to copy data and catalogs folders from old server but now it says "database schema version mismatch" when i try to start services

Open a command prompt & browse to the Backup Exec directory & run the following command ~ bemig

Post bemig, try restarting the services.

Since you have originally loaded BE 2012, you could have used BEMIG to upgrade your BEDB without loading BE 2010 R3.  I have suggested this in my earlier post.
