Hi,

I want to back up my .dr file off site. FTP seems the easiest, but I wanted to know if there is any sensitive data contained in the file. If so, I assume ftps or sftp. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

OK I have just checked the content of one of my DR files (we have a utility to read then that is not available outside of Symantec and before you ask is unlikely to ever be made available)

Going down the output manually I can see the following:

Date and time of backup

Size of backup

Type of Backup (Full etc)

Name and dns domain (FQDN) of Server backed up

Name of media server

Name / path of target device backed up to

Name of resource backed up (server\driver letter, server\system state etc)

GUID references for media names, families and catalogs

Operating system and CPU architecture information of machine backed up

Disk layout information of machine backed up

Network config (including IP addresses) of machine backed up

Inf and driver files for network and storage interfaces from machine that was backed up.

Name of the backup job

It DOES NOT contain Usernames or passwords
