This issue has been solved. See solution.

I've been searching for some information or documentation on any issues or caveats I could expect to run into when using a Backup Exec 2010 R3 agent with our Backup Exec 2012 server. We will be upgrading all the agents, but it will need to be a rolling upgrade, and I am concerned about being able to backup and restore all of my systems in the meantime. Does anyone have any information or documentation they can share on this subject?

Hi,

No hassles doing it (check the BE 2012 SCL which will state this). You will/might get some exceptions during your backups, but it won't stop you backing up/restoring during your rolling upgrade.

Thanks!

If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.

You should upgrade your agents as soon as possible.  When you use BE 2010 agents, you will not get all the additional features that comes with BE 2012.
