The 1st March release date

The 1st March release date was always tentative. I don't have any news on when this will be available.

I'll post back here when I have something concrete for you.

BESR 2010 was released in

BESR 2010 was released in November.  I'd hardly call this soon for a SP release as many of us are anxiously awaiting bug fixes.

Still not here.............

It looks like we may be waiting a little while longer for this. Thankfully, I'm still testing 2010 in the lab so it hasn't impacted me on the network as I'm still using 8.55...................

If you're having issues and are not backing up Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 computers, back down to 8.55. My policy for upgrading mission critical applications is to wait 6 months to a year from the release date before I deploy it to my domain.

Anyone Successfully Install This ?

Could anyone who has successfully installed SP1 please explain how you did it ?

i.e., did you use Symantec Installation Manager - If so, how?

Thank You

i was able up update

I have an icon on the desktop on the besr2010 server that is to update Altiris
Its labeled Symantec Installation Manager
Full path
 "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\SymantecInstallationManager.exe"
This will update all Altiris components
I don’t think this is a good idea because after I did this it seems the notification system is broken nothing reporting in any more all pc’s show at risk not backing up been working with support for 3 weeks they have no idea and that this should be fixed next major release
See Symantec response http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/348351

How can I be certain I have

How can I be certain I have SP1 installed? I run LU from the Help->Run LiveUpdate and it downloads a 2 part catalog and tells me there are no updates. Help->About shows that I have version 9.0.1.36527.

The following Symantec products and components are installed on your computer.
> LiveUpdate
> Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 2010

Initializing...
Connecting to liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com...

Downloading catalog file (1 of 2), product up-to-date.
Downloading catalog file (2 of 2), product up-to-date.
All of the Symantec products installed on your computer are currently up-to-date. Remember to check for new updates frequently.

LiveUpdate session is complete.

My BESR clients are all at

My BESR clients are all at 9.0.0.35656.

If I run Live Update from BESR at the client they do not update to 9.0.1.36527 (though the Symantec SEP client does update).  I would think this might be the correct behavior for a managed client but I don't really know.  The live update goes out to liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com.

If I run the Symantec Installation Manager at the Mangement Solution server it says "No updates currently available".  I would assume, since BESR was centrally pushed out to the clients that BESR service packs are intended to be pushed out centrally as well.  This is my understanding from the documentation.

On the other hand, based on the link in Linas post above, maybe I don't want SP1 after all.
