I have downloaded BESR 2010 Mangement Solution trial to test the product before I buy it. I am trying to install the software on Server 2008 VM. However when I clikc the "install now" link on the wizard I get the following error: (screenshot attached)
Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 Management Solution is not supported on Microsofty Windows XP/Vista.

How can I get the software installed?

Thanks in advance.

System Requirements!!!!

Check out the Admin Guide!!!

Windows Server 2008 isn't compatible ironically. Only the Windows 2003 Server series is compatible on the server side. You'll need to either:

  1. Move the installation to a Windows 2003 Server
  2. Run it in a VM

PS - Symantec needs to seriously address this issue as Windows Server 2003 is no longer being distributed by default by OEM's and is being replaced by Windows Server 2008 Standard............

un-bloody-believable

So, I got myself into a bit of trouble trying to restore a VM running on Windows 2008.  I saw that the preferred solution was BESR 2010.  Downloaded it and went to install the manager on the Windows 2008 Server Host.
Yeah, the documentation says it will only install on Windows 2003, but I didn't read that until after the unstall failed with the above message.  Why would I think that I wouldn't be able to install on 2008, when its because of 2008 that I needed BESR 2010 in the first place?
We are in the process of moving from a 2 gig Windows 2003R2 to a 32 gig Windows 2008 server.  So it looks like I'll have to keep the 2003 server around for a while, at least unyil Symantec gets its act together.
Don't know about everyone else, but I'm finding Symantec products increasingly flakey.  The only product I have confiidence in is BEWS.
