This issue has been solved. See solution.

Running on Vista 32 SP1. Machine is not reporting and when I looked at the error logs it shows licensing is not current on that client and now it is in trial mode. I know it was licensed properly, and I looked at some fixes like stopping the backup service and then deleting the .slf file from the Licenses folder. I cannot find the licenses folder eith on that machine that is not working, or my own which is working. I even did a search for licenses but could not find it. I also searched for *.slf on my machine and the only slf file that shows up is the Ghost 2.5 suite license. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

BESR 8.5 is activated by a

BESR 8.5 is activated by a license key and not a .slf file

It will be better if you call Licensing department and ask for the license key. Please make sure that you have your account information or the serial number for the software.

Hope this helps.

I have the license key. I

I have the license key. I have even right clicked on the client in the admin console and unassigned the key, then reassigned the key, and when I go to the machine in question it still says on the icon in the system tray that the license is expired. Since I already have our license key, and have for some time now, what direction to go now?

Thanks.

License Key issue

I think the expired notification is indicating that the trial version is expired.  A simple restart of the Backup Exec System Recovery service may finish applying the new license key.  If that doesn't work, you may have to manually uninstall the key and reapply it afterward.  Instructions in the link below for manually uninstalling the license key:

You will also want to ensure

You will also want to ensure that you are using BESR and BESRM 8.5.5 across the board. There were several licensing issues (including false reporting about license keys) resolved in the latest builds.

The simplest way to get it is

The simplest way to get it is by going to https://fileconnect.symantec.com/ and using the serial number issued to you from Symantec licensing.

If you can't access it there, email me by clicking on my name, then clicking 'Send this user an email'.
