I spent the whole afternoon trying to restore a server from an image previously created.

When the process has been terminated i restarted the server but the operative system did not boot notifying mbr issue.

So I tried different options to solve the issue (changing hard disk, dismounting the array, rebuilding a new image.etc.etc). but there was no way !

While I was trying for the nth time, I noticed that the checkbox "rebuild mbr" in the advanced options (that I regularly checked for "C:" partition ev'ry time) not preserve his state if select another partition .

For better understanding:

try to check mbr option for partition "C:", select another partion and check another option, select again partition "C:" and you will notice that option previously selected is gone.

This is absolutly a non-sense a totally illogical !!!!!

I waste hours of my time unuseless for this !!

I hope that Symantec developer consider this for next release of Recovery Manager.

Bye

Symantec BESR Support

We you able to actually contact Symantec support on the phone and talk to a live tech rep?

I am planning to use the product for a server conversion and this doesn't sound good.

Hi Don.

The product it's ok... but the recovery manager interface have (imho) this bug.

When I discovered the issue, I recover the server in few minutes clicking on the "ok" button ev'ry time I checked an option.

I made a P2V conversion and all work fine.

Bye

DonRay, You need to be sure

DonRay,

You need to be sure you actually have a maintanence contract with Symantec for your product if there is a chance you'll need to talk to support.

I suggest you take a look at the "About Maintanence" section of my BESR Blog:
