BESR lightouts BSOD
Created: 21 Jun 2012 | 8 comments
Hi all ,
We have server park HP PROLIANT with besr 2011 sp2 installed on each of them.
We want to install lightouts but when we start on the environment PXE SYMANTEC, we have a blue screen.
To be few you have already met this problem and you can help me.
The bios of proliant lame is up to date and in default setting.
thanks :)

How many servers are you seeing this problem on?
What ProLiant model/generation are you seeing this on?
Have you tried the English & Multilingual SRD?

Hi markus, the install of lightsout is very simple cause it's automatic when you launch the local setup in besr 2011.
Hi Chris , we have work together on a case ( compatibility of altiris agent and windows 2000 server ) and when i have open this new case at symantec support i give your name for have support by you but they dont listen me ;)
I try with the last version of multilingual sdr ( sp2) and lightsout work when i install it on virtual server.
I think it's one incompatibility between blade proliant and lightsout.
Can i send you a mail tommorow Chris ?
Regards

Yes, I agree. It needs further investigation.
Actually, I did have a brief discussion with the engineer about your case yesterday.
After today I will be on holiday for 2 weeks. I probably wont get time today to work on this I'm afraid.

Our Proliant blade series is :
BL460C G1
I try to install on other proliant server on other series ( ProLiant DL380 G3
) and lightsouts work as a charm.
Can i hope a fix by Symantec if incompatibility is cause of trouble ?

It really depends on what the root cause of the issue is.
It might be worth getting HP support involved as well. The recovery disk is based on Windows PE 2.1. Maybe HP could provide some help here...
You have a case open with us so it can be investigated on our side but I think working with HP as well on this may help to find a solution quicker.
