Hi:

I'm installing BESR2010 in a Win7_x64

"Error: Failed to have success running InstallVSSProvider function in MSIInstallVSSProvider function"

I've installed the agent without problem in XP, win7 32bit, but with Win7 Enterprise_x64 just can´t pass this point.

I've gone trough TECH135537, and amy Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator service is running...

Anyone can point me in the right direction??

Best regards

Yes, right click run as Administrator.

So..

I should re-install windows???$%&.. the tread says he finally re-installed windows. I even tryed to register the symSnap VSS provider manually by:

3. Type vssproviderinstall.exe -register "Symantec SymSnap VSS Provider" SymsnapProvider.dll "Symantec SymSnap VSS Provider" "Symantec SymSnap VSS Provider"

It did returned the prompt but registered nothing...

+1

Installation on a new born Win7x64 PC.

Would appreciate an answer, as problem occured twice on 2 different PC.

I worked around by enabling system protection on all of the disks, only system one was by default. Reboot, reinstall/repair, reboot again and backup is running.

Hope it will be same cause and remedy for  the other ?

  1. Does 9.02 verify protection state on volumes, if this point is a prerequisite ?

  2. What about space amount allowed for protection ?

Thanks, for info.

There may be an issue with

There may be an issue with the Windows installer itself. What error did you get?
