     i have a vm with sepm installed and sep the sep client says self managed I need it to be managed by the sepm.

     go to program files\symantec\symatec......manager\data\outbox\agent\[xxxxxxx...]\sylink.xml

    open any hex folder inside agent folder copy the sylink.xml

    go to start - run - smc -stop (enter)

    paste the sylink.xml to c:\program files\symantec\symatec endpoint protection\

    Replace the file.

    go to start - run - smc -start (enter)

    It will become managed

    Do you want the best or the quickest?  The Best, follow the support notes.  The quickest depending on your situation......

    take the sylink.xml file from a managed client that is in the group that you want your new client to be in.

    Stop smc.exe on your unmanaged client. 

    Rename the current sylink.xml, rename the sylink.bak

    drop the sylink.xml from the managed client on

    Start smc.exe


    It will have the ip address of the management server and the preferred group populated to tell it where to report and where it wants to belong.  Then it registers.

     I prefer the sylink drop tool. Here is the guide to use it http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/330939.htm . This can be scripted for a large number of computers too.

    If you are having more no. of clients and you want to do it remotely it s better to use sylik remote

    If you are doing it individuality in one by one client it is better to use sylink drop tool .This is available in he cd2

    Wow, thats crazy.  Why can't you just add that feature into your Manager.  I shouldn't need to run batch files or use .txt files, this isn't the 1990's anymore.

    If it's in active directory, I should be able to right click on it, and say 'manage'.  Your making me do the hard work, instead of your programmers.

    Pls post your idea in Idea section  of this form .So that developers of symantec will look in to it.
