    Hello all,

I'm looking for the best strategy to deploy software to new computers in ITMS 7.5 SP1.  For example, we have 8 software resources that should install on newly imaged computers (including the install of SEP 32/64 for workstations/servers).  Timing is pretty important to get the software installed rather quickly after image.

Is there a best practice out there on how to accomplish this?

I was able to locate the article "Symantec Software Management 7.0 Best Practices"; however this doesn't address the new computer angle.

Any tips or what works best in your experience is welcomed.

    Thanks!

There's no easy answer to this AFAIK. One option would be to have a Job with multiple Tasks and run that straight after the build job.

But to wait for Policies to run you usually need to wait for Basic Inventory to be sent, the Target for the Software Management Agent to update, the Client to update its config, install the Software Management Agent, send Basic Inventory again then wait for the Filters and Tarets of the relevant policies to update.

I would create a client job that contains 8 quick delivery software tasks. Include this in your build job. I wouldnt rely on policies if speed is the most important.

Universal Imaging- automates and streamlines the process; simply create one master image and it takes care of the rest.  Increases efficency and significantly reduces time and effort.

We are having a webinar next Tuesday, Aug 19th @ 2PM CST.  This is a unique offering from Novacoast, developed by our Endpoint Practice Manager, Larry Stein.
