Hello everyone,

Scenario: SEPM 11.x just migrated to SEPM 12.1.2015.2015

I have a group of SEP clients running SEP 11. I sync those SEP 11 clients with SEPM 12

Now, I'm looking for a best way (or best practice) to upgrade those SEP 11 clients to SEP 12 clients

I would like to know if:

1. Upgrade SEP 11 clients to SEP 12 means "installing whole client package again"???

2. Upgrade SEP 11 clients to SEP 12 requires "reboot"?? (Probably it will, just wanna be sure!!)

3. Any situation or problem i could face during this migration???

How to upgrade Symantec Endpoint Protection clients by using Auto-Upgrade

1. Yes, you will need to migrate over 11.x with the 12.1 client. You can install the same features as what you had in 11.x

2. Yes, upgrading from 11.x to 12.1 does require a reboot.

3. If you follow the above KB article, you should be fine.

When you upgrade SEP 11 to SEP 12.2 you need to reboot your sep client.

You must test the AutoUpgrade process before you attempt to upgrade a large number of clients in your production network. If you do not have a test network, you can create a test group. You can add a few non-critical clients to the test group and upgrade them by using AutoUpgrade. You can confirm the upgrade completed successfully by verifying the version number of the client software that appears in the About dialog box.

It's always recommended to have Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and SEP clients on the same version.

Upgrading clients by using AutoUpgrade

1. Yes, you can upgrade the clients easily using auto upgrade.

2. Yes, Reeboot is required while upgrade the clients.
