In terms of what? There is no publicly released guide to slowness :)

Typically you hit some snags when clients pull down and load new defs. Maybe you have an active scan set to run when new defs arrive or re-scan the quarantine? Those are the two biggest ones.

It wouldn't be limited to just 12.1.5 either.

    Here's a start:

How to turn off Active Scan when new definitions arrive

There already policies in place under Antivirus / Antispyware, use the one you like.

Rafeeq the policy being used is Balanced, but still there are some performance complains from the end user so I was wondering that perhaps I can optimize them more to adress their performance concern.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

You might not find best practices articles for SEP 12.1.5 slow performance issues on clients

Slowness can be associated with different factors like database slowness, system slowness or SEPM slowness etc.

Process Monitor is an advanced monitoring utility that shows real-time file system, registry, and process/thread activity. This log is useful in a wide variety of cases such as: a process hanging or using 100% CPU

For SEP slowness you may need to review specific logs like userenv.log. This log checks for login scripts, and other windows modules that loads.
