BEWS 10.0 Compatibility with LTO4
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 9 comments
I'm running BEWS 10.0 and about to purchase a new Dell PowerVault 124T LTO4 autoloader. I'm concerned that this version of BEWS is not compatible with LTO4 based on some posts I have seen.
The hardware compatibility list for 10.0 does have the 124T listed but it just says LTO, not LTO4. I don't believe that LTO4 existed when this document was created, so in my eyes not having LTO4 on the list does not necessarily mean that they are incompatible.
Does anyone have any experience using the LTO4 version of the 124T with BEWS 10.0?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ray, No support for LT0-4
Hi Ray,
No support for LT0-4 in 10d...you'll have to upgrade unfortunately!
11D, or even 12.5 if you can.
If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.
Is 10 even supported anymore?

11d brought big changes to BE over 10, 9, and 8.
What you see today is based on what 11d brought to the table.
There is some upgrade pricing for BE, you may qualify for. check www.backupexec.com and look towards the lower right about saving 45%...

Nope, I doubt it. Symantec
Nope, I doubt it. Symantec would tell you to upgrade to take advantage of newer features.

Hi, There are new features in
Hi,
There are new features in BEWS 12.5 along with LTO4 support. You can upgrade your BEWS from 10 D to 12.5
This will help you in managing Backup server effectively in comming years.
Look for the long term solution instead of just solution.
Hi Ajju, You cannot upgrade
Hi Ajju,
You cannot upgrade directly to BEWS 12.5...it's got to be a multi-step upgrade unfortunately.
So 10D to 11D to 12.5.
If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.
And just for info the 10D
And just for info the 10D version went into partial support earlier this year - what this means is no engineering/developer support - so no further code changes, but that you can still get assistence in asking for help against the existing knowledgebase.

This will be a post ad nauseum...not closed off =(
Colin: Any idea of a site where we can find out which versions are scheduled to come off support?

Go to the support page,
Go to the support page, select Backup Exec for Windows Servers, Click on "Release Details," on the right hand side of the page.
Although it would seem what Colin mentioned is not reflected in the drop down options...
