Big LDF file

Created: 15 May 2013 | 4 comments

Hi there,

I have a SQL server 2005 and I have a LDF file over 50Go.

I have backup exec  2012 and I have deploy applications agent on my server.

Is there one option that it permits to clean ldf file to each backup ?

Thanks,

Regards,

Simlip

Using Backup Exec you can backup and truncate SQL transaction logs, but that will not affect the size of the physical log file since we deal with the logical entity.

Consider running DBCC Shrinkdatabase or DBCC shrinkfile from SQL instead.

The other way is to set your database to Simple Recovery Mode which does not maintain transaction logs.  However, before you switch recovery mode, you should check with the database owner because some application needs Full Recovery Mode.

Thank for your reply,

I am really surprised.

Please do you have a step by step in order to fix the problem ?
