Hi,

Recently I installed the BkupExec 12 on my server (w2k3) and the tape driver is a Library (IBM-3580). So I configured all the software, but yesterday I was looking the log and I saw that the Job1 write in a one tape and the Job2 write in a another tape (different from the first one).

Configuration of the jobs

Job1 : time execution (Start no ealier than 02:00 am and no later than 03:00 am)

Device : All Devices (SERVER33)

Media Set : Differential

When the jobs begin : Overwrite the media

Backup method : Differential using archive bit (don't reset archive bit)

Job2 : time execution (Start no ealier than 03:00 am and no later than 06:00 am)

Device : All Devices (SERVER33)

Media Set : Differential

When the jobs begin : Append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is avaible

Eject the media after job completes

                              Retension media before backup

Backup method : Differential using archive bit (don't reset archive bit)

So the 'Media Set' was created as follows:

Differential: Overwrite protecion period: 4 days / Append period: None (Infinite Allow Append)

I need the two jobs writes on the same media without in an overwrite in the other, is it possible?

Note: I have two jobs because the first one is for the SourceSafe and the second is for the Files.

Thanks for the attention.

Yours sincerly,

Vinicius Deschamps

Looks like it ought to be working

Does job2 start on a new tape, or does it fill the first and finish on a second?
