  • 1.  Blank Auto-Protect Results and Security Centre Reporting Issue

    Hi

    I'm using SAV version 10.2.0.276.

I recently had a virus on my machine, which was succesfully identified and removed by the program.  However, since then, every time I reboot the machine, I am getting an Auto-Protect Results screen popping up with a yellow triangle containing an exclamation mark, but the window below it is blank and all the buttons are greyed out.  Obviously there is something that SAV isn't happy about, but what do I do to resolve it?

Also, I have just started getting a message from Windows Security Centre stating that SAV is no longer reporting in a recognised format.  I know that this has been affecting SEP for some time, but will this issue be fixed for this version of SAV?

    Thanks

    Greetings,

For the Security Center issue there is an update available, SAV 10.2.4.4000:

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2009071417581548?Open&seg=ent

For the issue with the alert, it would appear that the virus has broken our software. I would recommend either of the following:

-Go to Add/Remove programs, select Symantec Antivirus, click Change, and run a repair on the install. Reboot and check again
-Uninstall the version you have, download and install 10.2.4.4000 and that should clear it up as well

    Hi John

Thanks for that.  Can I ask why the fix for the Security Centre issue isn't automatically downloaded by LiveUpdate?

    Regards

    Greetings,

Wish I had a good solid answer for you here Kyvor. The best I can surmise is that typically we don't provide product updates via LiveUpdate, only definition updates. We have many customers that require a test of any product changes before they can implement them into their network.

With SEP, we do download these kinds of updates to the Endpoint Manager to allow you to test/implement them when you are ready. So far this is not available for SAV and my guess is its unlikely we will add that in at this point.
