I would like to be able to allow an app for a time period, such as 15 minutes per day and then block it after that. The idea is to allow something so that it can establish a connection, and then stop it after a period of time.
Can this be done with SEP?
I think it's possible with SEP however let me reconfirm with other members.
You can do this with the firewall. There is a schedule you can set in the rule. See here:
Scheduling when a firewall rule is active
Yes, you can set the time filter as per your requirement.
Go to SEPM --> Policies --> Firewall --> Select rule and click on 'Time'
Screenshots are attached to the reference.
Unfortunately, these settings only let me pick certain hours of the day when something is allowed or blocked. I would like set it as a time limit, as in, "You can run this app for 15 minutes only" and then it will be blocked.
This isn't possible. You can only choose start/end times
Unfortunately it's not possible exactly what you want. But can put it under enhancement request here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/node/add/idea?add_context=691
