  • 1.  Blocking Top Level Domains with SEP firewall

I'd like to block all access to *.ru domains.  Is it as simple as adding a block rule in our SEP firewall where the remote host is set to *.ru and all the other fields are set to any?

Or would *.ru also inadvertently apply to other domains like rutgers.edu?

This should be correct. You can quickly test out by creating the rule but setting it to allow and log. Browse to a legit .ru site and check your traffic log.

Yes you woudl leave the others at any.
