Hi,

I am getting this error while trying to do a BMR on a server. What I notice is that the server I am trying to restore is not server1bup but it should be server1-bup. Could anyone tell me where is gets this info from.

Starting Bare Metal Restore...
syslogd: line 24: WARNING: loghost could not be resolved
ERROR: Failed to retrieve server1bup.info from .

thanks!!

Okay it seems that I had mis-typed the entry for this server in the /etc/hosts file.

No when I go back and kick off the BMR again I get this error

NFS server bootsrv-bup not responding still trying

Anybody any ideas on why I would be getting this error?

Thanks!

The BMR works up to a certain point and then suddenly fails. I can see from a snoop everything is going fine then suddenly it stops. Really can't understand what is going on. Anyone have any tips?

bootsrv-bup -> client1-bup1 NFS R GETATTR3 OK
client1-bup1 -> bootsrv-bup NFS C GETATTR3 FH=2147

Can you elaborate where exactly are you seeing a failure.. Have you surpassed the point where you were earlier getting "Failed to retrieve server1-bup.info". I am not clear where the restore is failing..

As you are getting "NFS server bootsrv-bup not responding" message, can you verify if client is able to contact the Boot server after the BMR restore fails at the restore prompt. Please check if your Boot server is reachable from there.  Also make sure that the nfs, dhcp services are running on the boot server. You may want to try restarting them..

Regards.

My problen now is that I get this NFS error:

nfs: NFS server server1 is not responding still trying

When I boot the server over the netowrk in single user mode I can see that the interface is configured correctly and I can ping to the boot server and I can ping from the boot server.

I ran a snoop while performing network boot and communication is fine but then stops suddenly.

server.info is no longer an issue. I typed exit and then it continued jump and haven't seen this since.
