BMR Job, EFI, exclude

Created: 14 Jan 2013 | 3 comments

Since BMR is not supported using EFI, (Netbackup 7.5.0.4)

Is there a way to exclude or not run BMR job in some clients(with EFI) in a policy with BMR enabled.

Would be nice not having to create yet another policy for just these clients.

Currently there is no way to add any exclude rule. In case you still keep these clients in the same backup policy, bmr backup job would fail but data will be still backed up to netbackup media server. For these clients you may want to exclude OS volumes to same storage space. But yes, you need to ignore bmr backup job failure (yellow tag in NB admin console activity monitor) for these clients.

BTW BMR support for windows efi+gpt is planned to be enabled soon.

Thanks.

Mandar,

Ok thank you for letting me know.

Since it is very timeconsuming to run through all of the "yellow" fail logs to find other failures than BMR i'd rather make a new policy with BMR disabled then.

Regarding the upcoming support,  is there a ETA of version 7.6?

According to this, http://www.symantec.com/about/news/release/article.jsp?prid=20120827_01 7.6 should already be out! :-)
