BMR prepare to restore fails - error v-126-3

Created: 15 Oct 2012 | 8 comments

Netbackup 7.5.0

Master/Media server windows 2008 r2 , BMR Linux server - red hat enterprise 5.7

Boot from SAN environment HP EVA 6400, HP BL460c servers. Using linux multipath . 1 SAN disk presentation partitioned  /boot ext3 , / /home /var LVM on ext3.

I can make a copy of the current configuration of the server to be restored, but I cant unrestrict the disks. Restrict and remove restriction are greyed out.

Hmm...If I am not wrong, your OS is on SAN Lun which is based on Linux Multi-path.

BMR actually marks multi-path based disks as restricted during backup time so that it does not mess-up data recovery during restore. But it lets user to restore data exists on those restricted disks to some other disks (but not on those restricted disks). I believe possibly same is happening in your case.

I am wondering if you can discover your destination system (even though same) having SAN Lun attached. Try initializing your original config with this discovered one using BMRCONFIG. I believe your mapping would work here.

If possible please provide your client bundle.dat. I will try checking if initializing sovles your problem.

Thanks.

Discovery is not working either.

The requested operation could not be completed

The shared resource tree could not be shared by the boot server hosting it. Please verify the required configuration in the boot server is correct.

Can I run a manual discovery on linux like we can do on windows with a boot disk ?

Dave613's picture

Ran a manual discovery. When I try and unrestrict the newly detected disk it says

unrestricting DMP disk is not supported

Did you boot your client over BMR Linux SRT and ran discovery?

Thanks.

yes I booted server from a BMR SRT disk image and ran a discovery. The disk configuration was recorded in discovered configurations. I make a new BMR Client configuration and select change. Initialise the disk with the newly discovered config. The disk is added to Empty disks, but it is restricted. When i try to unrestrict I get the error The requested operation could not be completed. The server returned code 1. Unrestricting DMP disk is not supported.

Is there a resolution to this problem? I'm having the same issue at the moment on very similar hardware.

The 7.5 documentation states that native multipathing is supported for Unix clients.
