bootable cd to re-image and system will not start ghost session

Created: 15 Nov 2013 • Updated: 02 Dec 2013 | 1 comment

I have created on ghost 11.0, an iso which I burned to a cd. it will boot  and go all the way to session page where you are suppose to see the progress bar. It, however, freezes on  that page and wants to open a ghost.err.txt  on volume  A:  I do not see any problems in the post, it seems to bind and allows me to use multicast. I  type in the session name and it comes up to the correct page. The  indicator says it is beginning the layout  and immediately stops. Can someone give me a hint as to what may be happening?  Broadcom Gigibit netxtreme is the dos driver  used for a dell t5400 precision.. (Note: For various reasons  We are switching to CDs because they seem to be more reliable).ANy help would be appreciated.

You should be moving to WinPE for your boot environment rather than DOS as DOS has so many limitations with modern hardware that it can be very time consuming to diagnose issues such as yours where no specific information is provided about driver versions, dos config and autoexec content, protocol.ini and other configuration parameters. Also, if your target PC has a SATA hard disk, you need to make sure that the bios has a compatibility mode to emulate an older PATA hard disk, and the setting is enabled, otherwise the DOS boot will not see the SATA hard disk (since DOS has no SATA support).

SATA based optical drives also have boot issues with DOS as the old CDROM drivers don't work.
