Using a dos boot disk created from Altiris deployment solution. I have one computer that hangs on the aname.exe command. The network adapter is a gigbit Intel adapter.

Any suggestions on where to start troubleshooting this?

Thanks,

Rick

Is it definitely the aname command it stalls at? I've never seen that before.

Have you been able to determine if it's that model of adapter that's causing the problem? If so about the only thing you could try and do is adjust the settings in protocol.ini.

Yes, i can take aname out and it connects to the network, but it doesnt change the computer name. We have several computers logging on for imaging so the name change is needed.

If this is happening for all your clients, try recreating the boot media. I remember an issue where this was an issue.
