Is the BPCOVERAGE command being phased out or did it just get left out of all documentation?

This issue has been solved. See solution.

NB 7.5.0.4 running on Win2k8 R2

Despite having licensed OpsCenter I'm finding that I need simpler reports of what's being backed up (for Upper, Upper Management)...I remembered from a previous support case that there was a command BPCOVERAGE that might give me some of the info I need.

But..despite finding the command installed (and getting some of the info I need from it), I can't find any documentation that lists it.  Especially not the PDF that lists most of the command line executables.

So...is it being phased out or did it just get left out of all documentation?

Hello - I'm fairly new to Netbackup and we're currently running v7.1.0.4 with a license of OpsCenter/Analytics and I'm also interested in creating management reports that are highlevel and not familiar with bpcoverage command.  Can you give a highlevel description of what you have used the command before for and are you planning on using to create your highlevel reports?

Senior Management is used to a manually maintaned spreadsheet that lists the client, where it's being backed up to, if it goes offsite (previous backup product used tapes), and what's being backed up.

There's no way I can keep such a spreadsheet up to date with the conversion to NetBackup (not only replacing the previous backup product but also adding other machines that never were backed up before this).  So I'm looking (for now) for a list of what's being backed up..and bpcoverage does just that with a little scripting help.

I don't have to worry about the "to where" since it all goes to an Appliance now....

We've never documented bpcoverage.  Here's a really, really old TechNote explaining why:

DOCUMENTATION: What is the "/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpcoverage" command used for?

Thanks Chris,

While that doesn't answer my direct question, it does answer why there isn't any current documentation for that program.

It really is a nice program, especially when a SOX Auditor asks "Is this directory being detected by All_Local_Drives and is a backup being attempted?".

One suggestion though, the meta tags on that note need to be updated so that if someone searches for just bpcoverage it will pop up (right now the results are blank).
