    Hello,

    I'am new with symantec products.

I have installed symentec mail security for MS Exchange antivirus v6.5.

And I have brightmail messaging filter licence.

Is  brightmail messaging filter is an addon for  symentec mail security for MS Exchange antivirus v6.5?

Can I install it on the same server with symentec mail security for MS Exchange antivirus v6.5?

    Or what shell I do?

    Please advice!!!

    These are two separate products.

Symantec Brightmail Message Filter is a gateway filtering product ideal for service providers and large complex architectures due to its flexibility.

Symantec Mail Security for Exchange is for customers that need to run filtering on the exchange server.

Another product worth considering is the Symantec Brightmail Gateway - available as an appliance or a virtual appliance. This is another gateway product, with an integrated MTA and many additional features to provide further mail security in addition to content filters - for example enhanced IP reputation and connection management, and features to detect directory harvest attacks and forged bounce messages to name but a few.

You may wish to talk to your local sales representative about which product is best for your environment.

There could be issues scanning messages when both SMS for Exchange and SBMF installed on the same server.

SMS sinks on Exchange are higher priority than SBMF, this could cause the messages property EXSES_TURF_ON_ACCEPT_LIST to be set to TRUE, which indicates a whitelist. This will prevent SBMF from scanning the email.

You have to really make sure that one product is disabled before enabling the other one.

Symantec Brightmail Message Filter is a different product and its not an add on to any of Mail Security Product ( Exchange / Domino ). This is a stand alone product which is  downloadable.

Please check the link below for more information regarding Brightmail Message Filter:

Please note that Symantec Premium AntiSpam is an add-on subscription service for Symantec's Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange, Mail Security for SMTP, and Mail Security for Domino products.
