  • 1.  BrightMail Replationship with Enpoint

    My BrightMail license expires in 20 days.  15 days ago I requested from my vendor a license renewal.  They sent me Symantec Endpoint 11.x Renewal.  (I also have Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.2.6.)

    I down load the MR4 software from the license site and install it on the server. 

    So Now I have the Endpoint loaded on my server with the other two Symantec programs.  I am confused as to what to do now?  Am I migrating the other two programs into Endpoint?

     

    Printed the migration instruction from the web but it was written for when you already have Endpoint and you are updateing. Been searching all day for an answer to what the heck to do now.

    Firstly what Brightmail enabled product are you running? Brihgtmail Message Filter 6, (formerly Brightmail Antispam), the Brightmail Gateway(formerly SMS 8300 appliance), or SMS for SMTP?

     

    Do you know if you actually renewed Symantec Multi Tier Protection instead of just SEP?  If that were the case then you would be entitled to run the Symantec Brightmail Gateway appliance.

     

    The Brightmail Gateway is really the only product associated with SEP when purchased in the Multitier Protection bundle. if you have SBMF(SBAS), then unfortunately you would need to renew the licenses for that product.  If that's what you were trying to do, it sounds like your vendor may have got it wrong.

    We are running Brightmail Antispam and Antivirus 10.x.  No I do not believe that I have the right product for my upgrade.  The problem is the vendor register my products under their company not mine.  I have had to ask them to share the license of the Antispam and Antivirus in order to view them on my license page.  I am not able to get the software or update information for either.

     

    I would like to speak to a live body at Symantec to sort this out.  Do you have a number I can call?

    Thanks you everyone for your assistance.  I spoke to the rep and I have the incorrect software.  The service rep was excellent and gave me the correct mfg part number of the item I needed.  Problem solved.
