BRTOOLS - Backint will not find BackupID - No restore possible

Created: 29 Aug 2011 | 2 comments

Hi everyone,

i'm fairly new to backup Exec but have worked a lot with IBM TSM before.

I have a serious problem: We have installed Backup Exec 11d and a SAP Agent. Media-server and SAP-system are on different machines connect thhrough one network.

Backup via BRTOOLS is working excellent. I have done online & Logbackups. Our media-server is telling me everything is fine, SAP is telling me everything is fine. Returncode is 0.

No comes the problem, when trying to do a restore I will always get "FILE NOT FOUND".

More specific: Even when i try a inquire using BACKINT:

backint -u SID -f inquire -t file -i E:\oracle\SID\sapbackup\RESTORETEST\filelist.txt -p F:\usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64\biparam.ini -o c:\test.txt

filelist.txt include nothing but the (right) backupid.

result: #NOTFOUND <backupID>

Even when i try to get a specific file from the recently done backup it will fail.

BUT: When trying to inquire a specific file without backupid, i will get a result from a online-backup we have done and which ended in en error. But there a now 2 backups (no errors) followed. In SAP you will se all three backups (1 with error, 2 perfect fine), but results from backint are always from the error one, even if the others are newer!

Can anyone help me with a suggestion what else to try. I've searched the forum and asked google but nothing helped so far.

Thank you!!!

p.s: Windows 2003 / Oracle 11g for SAP / Backup Exec 11g

It could be that your problem is due to the fact that you are using Oracle 11g.  BE 11d only supports SAP on Oracle 10g.  See the SCL below

Backup Exec 11d Software (SCL)

Upgrading to the latest version of BE which is BE 2010 R3 would be of no use because it to supports only SAP on Oracle 10g.  See the SCL below

BE 2010|2010 R2|2010 R3 Software (SCL)

Also, take note that support for SAP would be dropped for the next release of BE.  See
