    Hi,

I am implementing SEE on various stand-alone HP laptops. I works like a charm on most models, but I am running into serious issues when trying to encrypt the newest HP Elitebook Folio 1040. This is what happens:

    * Installing management agent + reboot - no problem

    * Installing hard disk encryption client -> reboot -> blue screen while booting Windows (note: I am not getting the Symantec login screen yet as the self recovery questions would have to be configured first).

The message is: "A problem has been detected and Windows has ben shut down to prevent damage to your computer" (error 0x0000007B).

When booting in safe mode, I noticed the BSOD occurs when loading (or after loading) disk.sys

The blue screen is persistent and forces me to return to an earlier restore point to gain access to Windows again.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    James

ps: is this related to the MP2 issues?

    Hi James,

It is better if you install in Standalone Envrionment Symantec Drive Encryption product instead of Symantec Endpoint Encryption.

As you installed SEE so far I would verify also the version 11.0.1 and of course follow this KB with the necessary requirements:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH224480

Compare HP laptops models and note differences of BIOS/UEFI with disk type models and configuration and verify if they are supported as per above KB.

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for your response. In the meantime we were able to solve the problem by installing SEE 11 MP3. It appeared to be a common issue with specific HP models that has been fixed now.

BTW: why is it better to install Symantec Drive Encryption? (We chose SEE as we are moving to an Active Directory based environment soon).

    Cheers,

    James

    Hi, James

    Thanks for the feeback.

If you are moving to the Active Directory Based envrionment soon and you want to use a full capability of SEEMS than it is fine. Just purely for the Standalone client installation Symantec Drive Encryption is recommended over the Symantec Endpoint Encryption due to better recovery process if sth goes wrong.
