We have just purchased a Dell Latitude E5530. In our organization we use Symantec EPP 11. We are a non profit organization, so we use a donated lycense that does not allow me to contact Symantec support directly. I do need community support please. Here are some details:

    Symantec Version: 11.0.5002.333

    Windows 7 Proffessional x64 Service Pack 1

On Sat 9/15/2012 1:05:15 PM GMT your computer crashed
    crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\091512-105035-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: teefer2.sys (teefer2+0x5530)
    Bugcheck code: 0x1000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF880045AF530, 0xFFFFF88003939938, 0xFFFFF88003939190)
    Error: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M
    file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\teefer2.sys
    product: Symantec CMC Firewall
    company: Symantec Corporation
    description: Symantec CMC Firewall Teefer2
Bug check description: This indicates that a system thread generated an exception which the error handler did not catch.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: teefer2.sys (Symantec CMC Firewall Teefer2, Symantec Corporation).

    Thank you!

The first thing I would do it upgrade to the latest version, RU7 MP2 or go to SEP 12.1 (RU1 MP1). You're on an old version, and hundreds of bug fixes have been made since that version.

    Hi,

With your donated license can you upgrade to the latest SEP version?

    However try following workaround:

Remove NTP, only install AV/AS & PTP

Teefer2 is the network driver, can you remove NTP feature & check?

In this case you can use Windows firewall instead of Symantec firewall.

I tried this thread, both links to the KB's seem to be irrelevant, and both other answers suggest to contact Symantec which I can't do. But thanks for it.

I will see if I can upgrade to RU7 MP2 at all with my donated lycense.

I will try to upgrade to RU7 MP2 first, and if that fails, I will try removing NTP on this one particular Dell that causes the issues. Thank you.

    Hi AlexeiR,

I do understand that you use donated Licenses, but Windows 7 uses SMB2 protocal for network file copy unlike XP that uses SMB. SEP RU6 and prior version does not support SMB2. It is supported only on RU7. If upgrading I woudl recommend SEP 12.1.

    Good Luck,
