  • 1.  BSOD when sep starts

    Posted Sep 13, 2009 02:03 PM
I have a client machine with win xp sp3.
earlier it was working fine with sep 11 mr4 mp2 installed on it. but for some reason user uniinstalled sep and later when i installed sep on that machine it boots fine but when sep starts a BSOD appears(memory dump error) . again i removed sep (through add/remove program and cleanwipe) and installed sep (managed) the same thing happened.

one thing i have noticed eachtime i install sep after removing it a new teefer2 driver gets installed like teefer2 #1, teefer2#2 and goes on.

is this the cause of the problem. hwo can i see the teffer2 driver in lan properties in mr4

    Hi Bijay,

Try this out it may help here.. I am thing that when you uninstall the Software the tefeer2 might be getting stuck & when you re-installing it is isntalling a another instance of it.

    - Uninstall the SEP.
    - Then Follow the manuall removal documnet check the step 5 in it.

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007073018014248

    - After this re-install SEP with only AV & check if you get the BOSD...

Ok if this a problem on one machine then follow this & let me know if this works.

    - Uninstall SEP
    - Re-install the network card drivers this remove all the instance of teefer..
    - Then re-install SEP with all the feature.. Just make sure that you are installing the latest version..
    - Also install  unmanaged client & then make it managed..
    - I am asking from unmanaged just to make sure that ther is no policy conflict..
