    Hello,

We are using Symantec Endpoint Protection (v12.1.4104).

We've found that users cannot connect to BT Openzone wifi installations at Hotels/Restaurants.

A quick test - disabling the Firewall component of the SEP client showed this component is causing the problem - they are able to connect without the Firewall.

Obviously we don't want to send users out with their Firewalls disabled.

Has anyone come across this before?  Can see nothing obvious in the Firewall policy and I've done plenty of searching and found nothing related to Openzone and SEP.

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks.

The problem is that this may not be logged. Check your traffic log on an affected client first. Otherwise look at the last two rules in your rule stack. Make sure they're set to log and try testing again. See if any blocked traffic shows up.

Also please see the steps here for troubleshooting blocked connections, this article will help the most:

    Hi,

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but all that link tells me is to disable the firewall to find out if it's the firewall that's causing the problem.

I already know it's the firewall causing the problem.

Do you have anything a bit more in depth that might aid in troubleshooting the issue.

Someobody must have come across this before with Openzone being so ubiquitous across the UK?

    Thanks again.

The traffic log is where everything would show up. Re-produce the issue and match up the timestamp in the log to determine what needs to be opened.
