BUE 12.5 Desktop Agent won't install

Install log states:
11-26-2008,16:15:36 : Command line: -S
11-26-2008,16:15:36 : Running in silent mode.
11-26-2008,16:15:36 : OS requirements met.
11-26-2008,16:15:36 : FullInstallVer (2.81) and Version (2.0) registry keys mismatch.
11-26-2008,16:15:36 : This machine does not have the minimum required MDAC version, 2.8. Please install the latest MDAC before you continue.
Desktop is new Dell Precision with Windows x86 SP3 and all updates. MDAC version shows as 2.8.
What's causing the error?

try Have youtry to reinstall MDAC 2.8?
It clearly does not like your MDAC, so I would install MDAC 2.8 SP1: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=78CAC895-EFC2-4F8E-A9E0-3A1AFBD5922E&displaylang=en.
If that doesn't work, please post back...or even if it does, we like to know what worked.
I was able to install the agent on another system with MDAC 2.8 SP1. Two others I cannot. Will try reinstall of MDAC 2.8 SP1. Symantec support will also be connecting to take a look.
