Bug alert for HP-UX AIX and SGI media servers
FYI - To all of you who don't receive the Symantec Technical Advisory mails.
http://entsupport.symantec.com/docs/287287
Description:
A rare data loss condition exists for HP-UX, AIX and SGI media servers running NetBackup 4.5, 5.0, 5.1, and 6.0 where the last valid backup image on tape is overwritten by an empty backup header due to a failed backup job.

This looks particularly nasty. I am in the process of identifying media servers that require patching. Has anyone downloaded and ran the utility to diagnose and identify tapes that may be toast?

Mine turned out OK....
Yet... That environment is at NBU 5.1 mp4....
I would like to take it to mp6.... Can I skip a step?
Joe Despres
yes,
MP's are cumulative.
If you go from MP4 to MP6 then you are defacto also installing MP5
As far as the bug...I did not suffer any data loss.Message was edited by:
