Hello, i've found a bug in depoying the client :
it seems that the in the C:\Program Files\Symantec\Ghost\ClientInstall, the msi is named
    GhostClient.msi

When i want to deploy the client via the GSS2 console, i've got
(31): Copy files: Copy failed for file: Client.msi Opration russie.

So i've made a copy and rename GhostClient.msi to Client.msi and it's better.

But the second problem is with the igmp snooping on cisco switchs.

With GSS1, i use one cisco 3550 switch with CGM and many 2950 with IGMP snooping.

So i can deploy in multitasking and only the needed ports on the switchs are used.

Now, with GSS2, after many tests, i've switch off the CGMP and IGMP because the console could not view the client.

What do you think about that ?

For the IGMP, i've modified the cisco configuration with enabling cgmp and it works. Now i can deploy the client via the Console and i can see all the client.

It would be nice if the manual could explain the needed configuration to optimize the multicast.

Thanks in advance, we know that is a complex product, but it could be much better to use daily.

    Hi Tristan,

It is difficult to understand how the client was named wrong in your installation; we haven't seen this happening in any of our systems. Since changing it corrected your problem, it should have been like that from the start of installation.

Looking at your other post, I think this is on a W2k3 FR system. Is that correct? You have mentioned a problem with upgrade too; do you see this issue in the upgraded system or in the fresh install?

We have added some more information in GSS 2.0 to the documentation regarding Multicasting, mainly port details etc. but not much about switch configurations. Though we are trying to document these things as much as possible, it is not getting easier with the vast amount of switches and network configs exist nowadays.

Hello Krish, thanks for your answer.

I will try to document all my problems with the exact configurations of all the swirchs and servers.

For the moment, i'm back to GSS1 with my old config.

I will contact you as soon as possible.

    Tristan.
