Bupexec 12.5, Domino 8.5 running on Windows 2008 - 64bit

Hi guys can you help me please, have been running 12.5 on a dedicated Domino sever (8.5) the OS is 2008 - 64bit.

We have had many problems with this, in particular with the remote agent crashing, have tried many fixes but as yet to no avail. We have to continually uninstall/reinstall 12.5, and have tried with no fixes or service packs and with service packs and hotfixes from 1-13, the best we seem to get is about 7 backups and then we get the following sequence of messages.

Connection to the Lotus Domino server has been lost. The following error was reported: Notes Agent:CLNPartitions::BuildFakeFileSystem - Access Violation Exception Caught. The job that was running on this server has been stopped.

Faulting application beremote.exe, version 12.5.2213.133, time stamp 0x49c7f291, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791adec, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000049fb9, process id 0x2ac, application start time 0x01ca484e578f0f52

Once the Agent has crashed the only way we are able to have a successful backup is to remove and re-install, although we have tried the fixes that have been suggested in this forum i.e. make some registry changes to journal filtering etc. none seem to solve the issue.

Any assistance would be appreciated

Bupexec 12.5, Domino 8.5 running on Windows 2008 - 64bit

At this point Domino 8.5 is not supported with Backup Exec 12.5.  I have provided the link to the Software Compatibility List below.

Hi Though it is not supported

Hi

Though it is not supported with 12.5, still you can backup Domino files (NSF files)

You can use Advanced Open File Option to backup NSF files.

Before doing this some changes you will have to do in the registry of backup server and domino server which are as follows

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Backup Exec for Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\Domino

Add DWORD value - Enable Offline Backup and set the value 1

Kindly mark this as a solution if it works successfully

Sorry taken so long, but have

Apologises for taking so long to respond, have made the changes suggested, have had 2 successful back-ups so far. This may be the solution but will advise if we manage to get 5 consequtives, which haven't managed before. Many thanks for your help, and must admit wasn't aware that Domino 8.5 wasn't supported.

Bupexec 12.5, Domino 8.5 running on Windows 2008 - 64bit Update

Hi, just to give you the latest, last night's backup failed with the following errors

The connection to the Lotus Domino server has been lost. The following error was reported: Notes Agent:CLNPartitions::BuildFakeFileSystem - Access Violation Exception Caught. The job that was running on this server has been stopped.
followed by
Faulting application beremote.exe, version 12.5.2213.133, time stamp 0x49c7f291, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791adec, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000049fb9, process id 0x2ac, application start time 0x01ca484e578f0f52.

Which is the remote agent service that has failed and the back-up has failed again.

In the registry I have made the following changes
Enable offline backup '1'
Enable Change Journal '0'
Enable Notes database filtering '0'

The changes that have been made don't appear to have had any effect, the failure seems to be consistent, in so much as the remote agent crashes on the server and the job fails with a reported communications failure.

Once the remote agent has crashed, stopping & starting the service has no effect at all,  we are unable to interrogate the notes database, what we have to do as a workaround, (which is painful) is we have to uninstall the product, re-install & start again. Which can only be done outside hours.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

You shodul only select the

You should only select the file system (via the drives) after making those changes, if you still select the Domino information via the specific container in the selection list then it will still be trying to use the Domino Agent against the unsupported version and you will therefore still have problems.
