  • 1.  Bypass Password On Remote Push 11.05

    Posted Jan 25, 2010 05:59 PM
Information:   Replaced server and installed new version on AntiVirus server.  Clients are still on 11.04 and need to upgrade/switch to 11.05.

When I push the new antivirus client to the systems, a prompt for uninstall password is shown.

How can I bypass the uninstall password during push install of 11.05?

Use sylinkreplacer tool to first connect the clients to new SEP Manager.
    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/downloads/sylinkreplacer-tool-connecting-sep-clients-sepm

This tools works with password protected clients ( you will have to supply password while running it )

Once the Clients become managed by the SEPM 11.0.5 ..you won't even need to push the packages you can just assign it to the groups.

You can disable the password from the registry

Once you have all the clients connected , via sylink replacer  you can try this

Title: 'How to disable the uninstall password in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager for upgrading managed clients to Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.5002.333 (RU5)'
    Document ID: 2009101414365648
    > Web URL: http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security.nsf/docid/2009101414365648?Open&seg=ent

    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\AV\AdministratorOnly\Security

If UseVPUninstallPassword is 0 it means that the password is disabled.

If UseVPUninstallPassword is 1 it means that the password is Enabled.
