  • 1.  Can the Checksum.exe utility be run remotely?

I'm trying to run checksum.exe remotely on a system with psexec. It doesn't seem to work as I get an application error popup on the remote system for checksum.exe.

I would like to launch it remotely and tell it to output to a share but I could live with it outputting locally and I can retrieve the file.

Is this possible? If so what are people using and what parameters need to be used?

    Thanks

Thanks but I already have the utility on the remote system since SEP is installed. I just want to kick off the utility and retrieve the checksum list from that system.

I don't see why this is not possible since the application already exists on the client. What was the exact error you were seeing when you tried to launch checksum.exe? I am assuming you are kicking off checksum.exe via the command line on these remote computers. To do this locally you would simply type where c: could be replaced by any drive:

    checksum.exe filename.txt c:\

I am assuming you have already tried to do this locally right? It could also have something to do with the UAC and Microsoft, not sure until we get the exact error back from you.

    Cheers
