  • 1.  Can I create and use Multiple versions of WinPe on DS 7.6?

    Hello,

     

    We support a large, diverse environment with multiple versions of Windows and we use the SMP to image workstations, laptops and servers, ranging from 2003 to 2012R2 and Windows 7.  With previous versions of DS, only a single version of WinPe was supported at a time, which often resulted in Network card drivers issues, where the hardware is too old, or the OS is too old, etc.  I just upgraded to SMP 7.6 and can see that it supports WinPe version 3.1, 4.0 and 5.x.  I would like to create a WinPe image for each of the OSs that I need to deploy, so that I only need to download one version of the NIC driver.  I would like to use WinPe 5.1 x64 to image Windows Server 2012R2/Windows 8.1 and WinPe 3.1 for Windows 7.

     

    So my question is does DS 7.6 support this kind of configuration, where I can simultaneously use different versions of WinPe images?  OR does SMP 7.6 only support the use of a single WinPe version at a time.

    Yes, DS 7.6 supports multiple winPE versions. Take a look at its Release Notes http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC8035.
