I can’t seam to get windows PE or dos to image a computer. I have a ghost image I am trying to deploy in the past it worked perfect. But after they upgraded my deployment server it no longer works. It boots in to ghost using the dos boot image but says can not find the image I:\images\e3600.gho. The path to the file image is correct. I tried to use PE but when pe comes up it just shows a dialog box that says nothing looks like there is something to click on but I can’t ever read it. After I click on the button what ever it says it reboots the computer

    I have 6.9 SP1

The only thing I can think of is that when they upgraded your DS, that they might have put the boot disks back to factory default?

Out of interest - what happens if you issue a job with just PAUSE? Does it run on either of your boot environments?

I should stress here that I'm no DS expert - I've come to both love and loathe it with all of its little "quirks"... Currently I'm more heading towards the latter!!

    Cheers,
    Gerard

If I use the dos boot image it will say it can't find the image. it appears to map the drive on dos and points to the right share path. On windows PE it loads pe up runs a few scripts but stops the console says it's download the image but nothing happens. I even tried the UNC path on pe still no go.

When using DOS as your Pre-Boot, have you made sure that your folder/file names do not exceed the maximum length? I believe a folder/file name can be no more than 8 characters in DOS before it is truncated. Make sure that all of the directories and the name of the image are all 8 characters or less.

    Hi,

a good point to start debugging ist to interrrupt the DOS-Bootprocess after TCP/IP is loaded. For example with CTRL-C.

Then go to the maped drive where your images are stored and look if the images are realy there.

Your Problem with WinPE (DHCP) looks like that you don't have the driver for the NIC includet. Sure that your computers NIC is includet in WinPE? If not, add it. Then WinPE will also work.
