can not recover data from symantec backup exec 2010

Created: 24 Sep 2012 | 5 comments

Ribbon is a backup of the server that no longer exists. I want to restore a couple of directories from there. put the tape in the tape drive, conducted an inventory of media, and then cataloged. run the Restore Data Wizard. notes the need for catalogs, run, and then get the message "error recovery --- during the task: invalid media ID library physical volumes." I read the manual, but something far not found anything useful.

Did you inventory the tape before running the catalog job?

Yes, I completed an inventory and cataloging before recovery

Bono: Check the TN below as this should be your issue:

Also make sure your date range selected is correct just in case.

If need be, stop the BE services, rename the Data/Catalogs folders to Data.old & Catalogs.old and start up the BE services. This starts with a blank BEDB (Backup Exec Database). Once done, reinventory your tapes and catalog the tape you want to restore from and see if you can restore.

Thanks!

It means that tape is overwritable.
