SYmentec version 12.1.6 and Mac OS 10.11.1

I just downloaded Symentec Endpoint for MAC and I can not run a virus scan.  I believe my mac is infected and something is preventing the scan.  How can i resolve this issue?

Why can you not run one? Are you getting an error or is something stopping you from running one?

I am getting this error  Scan Error:  The scan failed because of a scan engine problem.  Run LiveUpdate to get the latest version.  I ran LiveUpdate and I still get the same message.

The other issue could be that SEP for Mac support for 10.11 was introduced in 12.1.6 MP2 per this article:

Are you truly on 12.1.6? If so, you may need to get to 12.1.6 MP2 to see if that fixes it.

What's the SEP version? The Symantec Endpoint Protection client 12.1 RU6 MP2 (12.1.6465.6200) adds support for Mac OS X 10.11.

Refer the below question in the following article:  I don't see a LiveUpdate or scan schedule in the Mac's Symantec Scheduler. How can I verify the schedule given through the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager is really there?
