Can RMAN perform "inline" backups to disk and tape with Netbackup agent?
We are trying to come up with a standard for Oracle backups. Running Netbackup 6.5.6 on Linux, and the DB platform is Oracle 11g (also on Linux). We also have Data Domain appliances that we are thinking about leveraging.
Current strategy the DBAs use is to utilize NB RMAN agent to backup to tape, or no NB agent, and just use RMAN to disk (then NB picks that up as a regular filesystem backup).
Someone mentioned a feature in RMAN that allows for streaming the backups to disk AND tape. I've done some rudimentary research, and have not found anything that details this feature. Wondering if anyone can provide info on this.
Also, I've had a DBA implement the NB agent to backup Oracle DBs to Data Domain. In setting the "filesperset=1" (best practice for RMAN to DD), this results in A LOT of backup streams. And if any of those streams fail, the backup is no good (these failed streams cannot be restarted at the NB level).
In case its not evident from the post...I am not a DBA.
