  • 1.  Can SAVC10 and SEP11 coexist in the system?

My company currently has SAVC10.1.4 and I'm thinking to upgrade it to SEP11. I've read many problems during the upgrade, so I'm wondering if it's possible to keep the existing servers and install SEP11 onto a new server. If everythings works ok, then gradually bring client computers from the older servers into this new server. I read in this article
http://biztechmagazine.com/article.asp?item_id=369        where it says "SEP and its legacy counterparts can coexist on the server during and after migration. The migration documentation specifies requirements for running in side-by-side mode," But I can't find any information about this migration documentation.

To summarize, This is how you should approach it if you are not using active directory integration.

    1) Install SEPM on a server.( Can also be the current SAV server but not recommended.)
    2) During the second phase of the SEPM install, Migrate your entire structure from the SSC.
    3) Leave the primary and the other secondary servers untouched.
    4) Export the packages for the groups within the SEPM.
    5) Export the lists from the SSC for the clients under particular group\server which will act as the source of client list deployment later.
    6) Store the package and the list in the same folder for all the packages.[ Makes things easier:) ]
    7) Start deploying the clients.
    8) Move to the servers after that. Uninstall SSC (and AMS, Reporting agents...) from it.
    9) Push the correct group package(Should be the same as server name) across. The same for all the servers.
